Founder’s Story

Kim Jones began experimenting with mustard recipes in 2003. The result is a mustard that is different from any other–Jailhouse Jalapeño Brew–a Sweet Jalapeño Mustard that is truly unique. Use it for grilling, as a mixing sauce, or as a condiment! Sweet Jalapeño Mustard makes eating great!

The unique name Jailhouse Jalapeño Brew was selected because Kim was a guard at the Missouri Department of Corrections, beginning her service in 1994 at the old Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, MO. This is oldest operating maximum security prison west of the Mississippi River. It was opened in 1836 and was decommissioned in 2004. The prison hosted some of the most infamous criminals in the country, such as, Pretty Boy Floyd, James Earl Ray, and Sonny Listen. Missouri State Prison inherited the nick name “the bloodiest 47 acres” because of the violence that took place between convicts housed inside its walls.

Jailhouse Jalapeño Brew is not your ordinary sauce; its applications are unlimited. It can be used as a Dip-Marinade Sauce and is perfect for grilling or mixing. It features a sweet and spicy jalapeño mustard flavor with a tangy zip and works with beef, pork, chicken, brats, fish, hamburgers and is delicious as an ingredient in potato salad, deviled eggs or mixed with cream cheese.

Jailhouse Jalapeño Brew can now be found in grocery stores, gourmet and specialty stores, co-ops and specialty retailers across the country.
